Andrew Warhola, nicknamed Andy Warhol or Drella (a mix between Dracula and Cinderella) was born on the August 6th 1928 in Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania and died on 1987.
His first exposition (alone) was in 1962 in New York. This exposition was constitued by 100 Soup Cans, 100 Dollard Bills or Marilyn Diptych.
He is the symbol of pop art and he is also a Film director. He has realized 60 films.
In the 70’s he starts the screen printing. (With for goal of popularized the mass production of art).
He founds « The factory » a studio which bring together a big variety of different artists, writers, and musicians.
In 1968 Valerie Solanas shoot 3 times Andy Warhol with a gun at « The Factory ». He was declared dead at the hospital but he return to life some hours later.
In addition, Warhol starts « Interview Magazine », open a Nightclub and creates two TV shows : « Andy Warhol’s TV » and « Andy Warhol’s Fifteen Minutes ».
On February 22,1987 Warhol died of unexpected complications following gallbladder surgery. His death was a shock. The first issues to announce his passing was the April 1987 issue with actress Lisa Bonet on the cover.
Today « Interview » operates under the ownership of the Brant Family and continues to promote the celebrity culture that was a central part of the Warhol brand.
