Erasmus Days : Here we go again!

For seven years now, Renaudeau high school has hosted the Erasmus days: one week to promote Europe ! With help from the students and over-seeing teachers, Europe has been promoted through a range of activities getting wider every year.

The previous year (2022-2023) has seen the beginning of the dress code to match each day with the colours of a European flag. Last year was also the beginning of several interesting exhibitions created by the school’s euro delegates such as famous women of the EU, comparison of european school systems or famous artist through Europe.

Besides, for several years now, school students have discovered, during this special week, a game called “Panique à la Commission” (Panic at the commission) a role-playing game about European political figures.

More casual ways of promoting Europe in our high school are for example the week’s menu in the school’s lunchroom which has a day dedicated to a European country, or quizzes done in class of willing teachers and volunteer students who lead those quizzes. Some teachers even teach their class in another language or invite a native speaker. That special October week also hosts classes of unusual languages like Russian and LSF (Langue des Signes Française, French Sign Language).

The Erasmus days were named after a Dutch philosopher who travelled all through Europe in the 15th century. He was a precursor of Humanism and by extension of the Lumières (literally the Lights). Both movements played an enormous part in educating Europe on truths of the world.

Before the Erasmus days begin, let’s not forget Europe is always promoted in our high school through the euro-delegates and their projects like last year’s mural in the lunchroom. Last but not least don’t forget to follow @renaudeau_international on Instagram to stay in the loop of what’s going on!
